Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk Specs, Cockpit, Radar, and Price

Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk Specs, Cockpit, Radar, and Price – Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk is a maritime military multi-mission helicopter developed by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation, United States. The MH-60R helicopter was developed by combining the capabilities of the SH-60B and SH-60F helicopters in the US Navy's fleet. MH-60R is also referred to as 'Romeo'.

MH-60R Seahawk helicopters can be used in various missions such as anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), search-and-rescue (SAR), naval fire support (NGFS), surveillance, communications relay, logistical support and transfer of employees, and vertical addition (VERTREP).

The first flight MH-60R took place in July 2001. The first low-cost production helicopter (LRIP) was re-manufactured by the SH-60B, but the MH-60R and all of them were new buildings.

Sikorsky MH-60R Specs

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter was built with tolerance to small firearms fire and medium-caliber high-explosive projectiles. Flight control has dual-redundancy and flight controls that are ballistic reinforced. This helicopter is equipped with landing gear that absorbs energy, and crew seats that limit the load. Hydraulic and electrical systems are triple-redundant.

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter has controls and hubs for ballistic tolerant and 23mm rotation tolerant rotor blades. Tail rotor has excessive fail-fail control. The high mass component of the helicopter is maintained in the frame in the event of a 20/20 / 10G collision. The helicopter also features a self-sealing fuel tank and a modular transmission system equipped with failed lubrication.

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter is equipped with 2,721.55 kg (6,000 lb) cargo hooks for vertical fill missions. Lockheed Martin and Owego are mission systems integrators. Helicopters can operate from frigates, destroyers, cruisers, amphibious ships and aircraft carriers, and are suitable for intense coastal warfare operations to handle multiple contacts in confined spaces, and for open water operations.

Sikorsky MH-60R Engine

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter is powered by two General Electric T700-GE-401C turboshaft engines with a value of 1,425 kW. To support engine performance, the helicopter is equipped with an internal self-sealing fuel tank with a capacity of 2,230 liters.

The maximum speed and MH-60R Seahawk helicopter cruising is 267 km / hour and 168 km / hour, while the distance is 834 km. This helicopter can ride at the rate of 8.38 m / s. The ceiling of the helicopter service is 3,438 m. The helicopter weighs around 6,895 kg and has a maximum take-off weight of 10,659 kg.

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter cockpit is equipped with dual controls and accommodates pilots and co-pilots / tactical mission officers. The sensor operator station is installed in the cab. The cockpit was designed and supplied by the Owego Helo Systems division of Lockheed Martin Systems Integration in Owego New York.

The fully integrated digital glass cockpit is equipped with four 8 in × 10 in (20.3 cm × 25.4 cm) multi-function multi-function missions and a full flight display that is compatible with night-vision goggles and can be read by sunlight. Pilots and aircrews have a set of programmable public keys, mass memory units, mission and flight management computers, and special MH-60R operational software.

The MH-60R Seahawk navigation suite includes the Northrop Grumman (Litton) LN-100G dual-embedded global placement system and inertial navigation system. The helicopter is also equipped with a fully digital communication suite, with Link 16, ARC-210 radio for voice, UHF / VHF and satellite communications, and Harris Hawklink Ku-band datalink.

Sikorsky MH-60R Cabin

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter has a spacious and comfortable cabin with increased legroom for passengers. The cabin can accommodate three or four flight crew and five passengers. The length, height, and width of the cabin are 3.2 m, 1.3 m and 1.8 m. The cabin area and helicopter cabin volume are 6 m² and 8.5 m³ respectively.

Sikorsky MH-60R Weapons System

For anti-surface war missions, MH-60R helicopters can be equipped with various weapons at four weapons stations, including the Hellfire Lockheed Martin AGM-114 anti-surface missile.

For anti-submarine warfare, MH-60R helicopters can carry up to three ATK mk50 or mk46 light active / passive torpedoes. 7.62 mm machine guns mounted on the pintle can be mounted for self defense.

Sikorsky MH-60R Sensor

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter is equipped with the Lockheed Martin AN / ALQ-210 electronic support action (ESM) system. Electronic warfare systems include ATK AN / AAR-47 warner missiles, laser warning systems, BAE Systems AN / ALQ-144 infrared jammer, AN / ALE-39 chaff, and beacon feed dispensers.

This helicopter is also equipped with an AN / AAS-44 Raytheon detection / tracking system, which includes infrared (FLIR) and laser rangefinder. For anti-submarine war missions, helicopters are equipped with sonobuoy launchers and Raytheon AN / AQS-22 advanced dipping low frequency air sonar (ALFS).

The MH-60R Seahawk helicopter radar is a multi-mode Telephonics AN / APS-147 radar, which has synthetic opening and periscope imaging (ISAR) and small target detection capabilities. Lockheed Martin was awarded a contract in July 2008 to develop a new radar system called the AN / APS-153 radar, with the ability to detect and discriminate against automatic radar periscopes (ARPDD).

Sikorsky MH-60R Price and Orders

The latest MH-60R Seahawk helicopter price is around US $ 43 Million. In June 2011, the Royal Australian Navy placed an order for 24 MH-60R (Romeo) anti-submarine and anti-surface helicopters, to replace 16 S-70B-2 naval helicopters under the US FMS program.
