Sikorsky HH-60W Specs, Engine, Cockpit, and Price

Sikorsky HH-60W Specs, Engine, Cockpit, and Price – The HH-60W is a Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) which is being developed by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation in collaboration with Lockheed Martin for the US Air Force CRH (USAF) program. The HH-60W helicopter can be used in evacuation of victims, medical evacuation, non-combatant evacuation missions, civilian search and rescue, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, disaster relief, and the insertion or extraction of combat troops.

The HH-60W helicopter is an advanced variant of the proven Black Hawk UH-60M helicopter. This new helicopter will replace the HH-60G Pave Hawk medium-lift, search-and-rescue (CSAR) vehicle that entered service with the USAF in 1982. USAF announced the replacement of an aging HH-60G helicopter with a new CRH in 2010. Request for a proposal was issued for the CRH program in October 2012.

The new combat rescue helicopter was officially named the HH-60W by the USAF in November 2014. The initial design review of the HH-60W was completed in May 2016, while the critical vehicle design (CDR) review was concluded in September 2017. The CDR of the training system was originally completed in October 2017.

The HH-60W helicopter made its first flight in May 2019, while the Milestone C production decision is scheduled for September 2019. The USAF intends to reduce operational helicopters by 2021, while full production levels are anticipated in 2023.

Sikorsky HH-60W Specs

The HH-60W fuselage design is based on the next generation Black Hawk UH-60M helicopter. Rotorcraft integrates fuselage which is easily damaged and resistant to damage. It retains the composite, wide chord, main rotor blades, and corrosion resistant structure of its predecessor.

This helicopter offers improved internal fuel capability compared to the HH-60G helicopter. This provides longer reach and offers greater internal cabin space.

The HH-60W helicopter can hold two pilots, two shooters, two paramedics and two places for medical patients or injured service members. Both sides of the fuselage can be mounted with 50 caliber and 7.62 mm machine guns.

Sikorsky HH-60W Engine

The HH-60W helicopter is powered by two General Electric T700-GE-701D turbo-shaft engines, each of which will develop a maximum continuous power of 1,716 shp (1,279 kW) and offer improved performance in adverse weather conditions. This helicopter is equipped with a Lockheed Martin mission planning system, defense aids, data links, mission computers, and severe weather sensors.

The sophisticated glass cockpit of the HH-60W helicopter can accommodate two pilots side by side. It is equipped with advanced avionics and Rockwell Collins mission equipment, including cockpit flight and mission display systems, radio navigation and ARC-210 V / UHF communication systems.

ARC-210 offers secure voice communication and civil interoperability. This system supports the integration of advanced ad hoc networks of the future and the next generation of satellite communication systems that aim users for voice and data without interruption.

The multi-function display (MFD) on the HH-60W cockpit board complies with the latest night vision imaging system standards. The MFD supports a wide viewing angle for superior cockpit cross display. Integrated flight and mission display systems provide superior situational awareness while reducing pilot workload during CSAR missions.

Sikorsky HH-60W Price and Orders

The latest HH-60W Combat Rescue Helicopter price is around US $ 50 Million. In June 2014, the USF awarded a $ 1.2 billion engineering, manufacturing and development contract to the Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin team to provide a fleet of next-generation combat rescue helicopters. The contract includes the development and integration of a rescue mission system, four helicopters, and seven crew training and maintenance systems.

The contract also includes options for the production of 113 HH-60W helicopters. The Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin team will provide helicopters with the most sophisticated capabilities to support all services in battle.
