Sikorsky S-76 Specs, Interior, and Price

Sikorsky S-76 Specs, Interior, and Price – Sikorsky S-76 is a medium-sized multi-role versatile helicopter manufactured by Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation (SAC) di Stratford, US. Initially this helicopter was designed and developed for CHC Helicopter Corporation, Canada. Sikorsky S-76 can carry out various types of operations, including executive passenger (VIP) transportation, emergency medical services (EMS), search and rescue operations (SAR) and passenger and material offshore transportation. The first Sikorsky S-76 flight took place on March 13, 1977.

Sikorsky S-76 Specs and Varians

The specifications of Sikorsky S-76 are adjusted based on the variants. The S-76 helicopter is currently available in ten variants: S-76A, S-76A Utility, S-76A +, S-76A ++, S-76A Mk II, S-76B, S-76C, S-76C +, S-76C ++ and S -76D.

The S-76A is the first model in the S-76 series. About 284 S-76A helicopters have been produced. The second variant, the S-76A Utility, is an advanced version of the S-76A. The S-76A Utility is equipped with reinforced sliding doors and floors.

The S-76A + variant has two turbo Turbomeca Arriel 1S engines. The all-weather transportation model, the S-76A Mk II variant comes from the S-76A + by completing the last helicopter with a powerful engine.

The S-76B is equipped with two Pratt and Whitney PT6B-36A or PT6B-36B turbo shaft engines. Increased engine power capacity to 539kW led to the development of the S-76C.

Another variant, the S-76C +, was developed by upgrading the S-76B engine with full authority digital engine control (FADEC). The S-76C + is powered by the Arriel 2S1 turboshafts that are enhanced.

Another new variant, the S-76C ++, was developed by overhauling the engine, avionics and a new gearbox from the S-76C. The presence of a powerful engine in the S-76C ++ increases takeoff weight by 450 pounds. The S-76C ++ also includes a new cabin for VIP transportation.

S-76C ++, which features a better and quieter air intake and transmission filter, launched later. It is equipped with improved interior and electronic equipment. Production of S-76C ++ was completed in January 2006. This helicopter is powered by Turboméca Arriel 2S2 turbo shaft engine.

The S-76D is equipped with Pratt and Whitney 210S engines. The dual engine controlled by FADEC can generate power of around 1,050 hp. The Active Vibration Control System (AVCS) and four bladed composite main rotor are installed for smooth operation.

Rotation per minute (rpm) rotor adjusted itself. Higher Rpm is applied during takeoff and lower rpm settings are applied to increase roaming range.

Sikorsky S-76 Engine

Sikorsky S-76 is powered by two turbo Turbomeca Arriel 2S2 engines. Each machine can produce 688kW of takeoff power. The length and height of the machine are 1.156 m and 0.6 m, respectively. The machine can produce a maximum continuous power of 621kW. This machine is suitable for helicopters that carry missions such as EMS, SAR, police, VIP, aerial work, corporate and offshore liaison.

The Turbomeca Arriel 2S2 engine has a simple design consisting of five modules. This provides simpler maintenance and reduces operating costs through optimized acceleration mode. The Arriel 2S2 turbo shaft engine produces 6% more power than the Arriel 2S1 turbo shaft engine. It is also equipped with a dual channel electronic engine control unit (EECU), which measures fuel, ignition time and other parameters. The durability of Arriel 2S2 is 3,000 hours.

Sikorsky S-76 can fly with a maximum speed of 287km / hour. The ferry range and helicopter service ceilings are 639 km and 4,572 m, respectively. The maximum take-off weight of the S-76 is 5,306kg while the empty weight is 3,177kg.
