KAI KUH-1 Surion Weapons and Protection System

The KUH-1 Surion helicopter is equipped with six BGM-71 air-to-air missiles launched with an optically tracked tube (TOW) or four rockets. BGM-1 TOW is an anti-tank missile designed and developed by Hughes Aircraft. The maximum operating distance of the missile is 3,750 m. It weighs around 3.9 kg to 5.9 kg.

Defense and Security EADS installed MILDS AN / AAR-60 self-protection systems in the KUH-1 Surion helicopter. The self-protection system is combined with the spectral sensor suite.

Surion protects itself from attack by detecting and tracking ultraviolet emissions emitted by approaching missiles. Ultraviolet light is more effective at lower and slower targets. UV rays are more susceptible to atmospheric conditions.

KAI KUH-1 Surion Price and Orders
