RHC began the initial design of the R66 Turbine helicopter in 2001. Robinson R66 Turbine is designed to carry out mid-volume sightseeing missions. This helicopter is made of advanced composite materials, aluminum alloy sheets and chromoly steel.

This helicopter has a main rotor system and a two-blade tail made of aluminum. The diameter of the main rotor and tail are 10.06 m and 1.52 m respectively. The main rotor length is 4.87 m.

The helicopter will be equipped with electromechanical instruments, open cabin interior configuration and skid landing gear. It also features landing lights and a high intensity (HID) release taxi, leather seats and stereo audio control panel.

The R66 Turbine Marine variant is equipped with a pop-out float, offering an additional level of security for traveling on water. Designed for emergencies, six floating rooms expand in 2-3 seconds after activation. The installation adds about 65 pounds to the empty weight of the helicopter. When not in use, float the roll-up and store it on a protective cover along the landing plane.

Robinson R66 Turbine Engine

R66 Turbine is powered by a Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft engine, which can produce 270hp (201kW) of output power. Its maximum continuous power is 225 hp (167 kW). Positioning the engine at a 370 ° angle saves headroom and provides space for separate luggage space. The length, height and width of the machines are 1.07 m, 26.8in (0.68m) and 25in (0.63m), respectively. The repair interval is 2,000 hours.

The engine was specifically designed by Rolls-Royce for the R66 Turbine helicopter. It's small and light compared to the Lycoming O-540 six-cylinder piston engine. The RR300 engine is equipped with a one-stage centrifugal compressor, engine monitoring unit, transducer, starter or generator, sensor and terminal block.

R66 Turbine can go up at a speed of 1,000 feet per minute. The maximum speed is 222 km. The range and ceiling of the helicopter are 603 km and 4,267 m. The helicopter weighs around 580kg and the maximum takeoff weight is 1,224kg.
