HAL LUH Engine and Performance

HAL LUH is powered by a Ardiden 1U (Shakthi) turboshaft engine designed by Safran. The Ardiden 1U engine integrates a two-stage centrifugal compressor together with a one-stage gas turbine generator. The engine can produce a maximum power of 1,058 kW and a maximum continuous power output of 912 kW.

The engine can be operated in Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) mode, which allows power supply for all lighting, electronic and communication systems on the helicopter. It is also equipped with a back flow combustion chamber, integral oil system and dual-channel full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system.

HAL LUH can fly with a maximum speed of 250 km / h during flight level at sea level. HAL LUH has a range of 350 km and can be extended up to 500 km with the integration of an internal fuel tank.

HAL LUH is capable of operating in highland areas such as the Himalayas. The helicopter has a 6,500 m of service ceiling and can maneuver easily due to sufficient power generated by the engine. It is capable of carrying loads up to 500 kg.
